The Porto Santo beach of over 9 kilometres of yellow sand is one of Portugal’s Seven Natural Wonders, and the World Travel Awards nominated it for the "Best Beach Destination in Europe" in 2021.
Scientific experiments tested that the therapeutic properties of its sands are suitable for anyone suffering from rheumatic and orthopaedic afflictions. We believed that it is because of the microfossils, fragments of calcareous algae, mollusc shells and other marine fossils.
