Robert Trent Jones designed the Santo da Serra Golf Club, a 27-hole course that hosts the Madeira Golf Open, part of the PGA European Tour, and is rated as one of the best European Opens. Serra Golf or Madeira Golf Club has a golf academy, facilities, restaurant and incredible sea views.
Carbell Robinson designed the Palheiro Golf Course, an 18-hole course. A feature of this golf course is that the trees are part of the golf course, and it has beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and Funchal. Casa Velha do Palheiro Hotel or Casa Velha Portugal is on the property.
