Unusual Places to Consider Visiting
Come with us to discover beautiful views of the Capital, the mountains, and the Nun’s Valley hidden village. (Pico dos Barcelos, Eira do Serrado, Curral das Freiras)
We’ll start our tour by heading to the beautiful viewpoint of PICO DOS BARCELOS. Here you’ll look at an incredible view of the whole city of Funchal, including the bay and mountains. Next, we’ll drive you to EIRA DO SERRADO through dramatic and spectacular views. Once at the top, you’ll enjoy a stunning sight of the Nun’s Valley and the Central Massif surrounding it. Our next stop will be the Parish of CURRAL DAS FREIRAS (NUN’S VALLEY), considered the most isolated village on the island. The chestnut is one of the most important fruits grown here and used by the inhabitants for preparing many regional specialities. So don’t miss the opportunity to taste the local delicacies. Madeira island holidays are the ideal getaway all year round. Madeira weather in coastal areas is temperate and mild with no great extremes-although the temperature can drop the higher you go on the island, so whatever time of year you visit, be sure to bring warm clothes when visiting the mountains. Obviously, rainfall is higher in the winter, and you’ll probably need to pack a raincoat or umbrella. Madeira’s average temperatures range from 18C in winter to 25C in summer, with sea temperatures being nearly the same due to a warm Gulf Stream that surrounds the Island all year round, 18C to 22C.
The dress code for our tours is comfortable and casual. Dressing in layers gives the most comfort, as you can shed and add items when the climate varies. Consider packing.
We highly recommend this half-day tour. Our guide was very informative, we felt completely safe on the winding roads up into the mountains, the views were breathtaking.
Beautiful tour with stunning views! Lots of nice stops. Our guide shared lots of interesting facts, was friendly and had a lovely sense of humour. I love that we have enough time to discover places and walk by ourselves :) Thanks!
