All about the Porto Santo Jeep Tour Book.

This all-terrain vehicle will take you to some otherwise inaccessible attractions. We’ll first stop at Pico das Flores viewpoint for a magnificent view over the “lhéu de Cima” Islet and its lighthouse and the highest peaks of Porto Santo. We’ll then visit the Ana Ferreira site, an important natural monument of rare beauty formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. The prismatic disjunction resembles a pipe organ with vertical columns several meters in height. We will visit the Quinta das Palmeiras (30 min), a beautiful oasis with a lovely garden with local flora, exotic birds, and Koi fish ponds. Then we will reach the viewpoint of “Pico do Castelo” (Castle Peak), whose central location and altitude gave it its name, as it was there that the inhabitants sought refuge when pirates attacked the Island. After crossing some old farmlands whose traces are still visible, we will visit the Casa da Serra Rural House. Here, you will learn about the way of life of our ancestors and taste Porto Santo wine. Our last stop will be at Portela viewpoint, one of Porto Santo’s top attractions. The view down to the beautiful beach and over the Island is magnificent.     A member of our staff will pick you up at the indicated place and confirm your electronic ticket for this activity. The tour will begin as soon as we finish collecting tour members.

    For arrivals on the Lobo Marinho ferry (10:30): 

    You can only make this tour in the afternoon. The meeting point is confirmed via e-mail and pick-up times are as follows:

    • 14:30 (October 1st – March 31st)
    • 15:00 (April 1st – September 30th)

     

    If you return on the day you arrive, as a courtesy, we will take you back to the jetty.

Yes. We reserve the right to refuse anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance and any psychophysical conditions that could disturb the tour’s normal running.

There is no maximum or minimum age for our tours.

An adult or guardian must accompany children under 18.

This activity is not accessible to wheelchair users.

No, we offer trips in Portuguese, English, and French. Other languages on request.

The maximum capacity is 6 persons (1-4 seats during the Pandemic).

We have as many vehicles as are needed.

One of the great things about us is that we have no minimum requirements for our tour to run, so we will still go ahead if just one person has booked (the price is per person).

The prices for the jeep tours are per person.

Yes, our prices include insurance, covering civil responsibility, driver and occupant’s insurance.

Yes, we can provide baby seats when requested free. Please let us know in advance, so we can make sure you have them available.

Please remind that we require that all passengers under 18 are accompanied by a guardian adult.

No, but do not forget to bring a coat or a jacket in case the weather changes.

Make sure you take your sunglasses, GoPro, or Camera.

At the moment, we have two meeting points – at your hotel and at the Harbour (Porto De Abrigo).

Your confirmation email will have the exact meeting point details along with a map and emergency phone number.

Our driver/ guide will have a list of the passenger’s name.

Our vehicle will have a banner with the Lux Madeira company logo on the windscreen or the name of the group printed in case of being a group.

Opened on weekdays (year-round, except on holidays): 9:00-13:00 and 14:00-18:00.

In case of emergency, we are available 24 hours. Call the emergency number we sent in your order.

If you are happy with the service you receive, it is customary to tip your driver and guide. This is at your discretion.

Porto Santo island holidays are the ideal getaway all year round. Porto Santo weather  is mild with no great extremes – although the temperature can drop the higher you go on the island, whatever time of year you visit, be sure to bring warm clothes. Obviously, rainfall is higher in the winter, and you will probably need to pack a raincoat or umbrella. Porto Santo’s average temperatures range from 18C in winter to 25C in summer, with sea temperatures nearly the same because of a warm Gulf Stream that surrounds the Island all year round, 18C through 22C.

You can book until 20:00 of the day before the activity. Still, please book as soon as possible as the number of jeeps is limited in the high season and the capacity of each vehicle is 4 or 6 people (during or after the pandemic).

Please arrive 5 minutes earlier than your scheduled circuit time.

Should you need to re-schedule a booking you have already made, we will always do our best to help.

If you cancel the reservation until 20:00 of the day before, we will give a full refund, minus 5 euros transaction charges.

We will make no refunds a) after 20:00 of the day before, b) no-shows and c) groups.

We reserve the right to cancel a booking for reasons beyond our control, such as the weather. Furthermore, we will do our best to let you know as soon as possible and do everything we can to offer an alternative date or time. In the impossibility of re-schedule, we will refund the full amount paid.
