Backpack your hiking boots and discover the most iconic places of Madeira.

Some hiking trails can be challenging, others not really! Mountain walks in Madeira and footpaths parallel to the Levadas (ancient irrigation channels) are the best options. You can go up and down the hills or walk on a flat path; you can walk for 2 hours (5,5 Km) or for 5, 6, 7 hours (10-15 km).

Choose only the ones that are suited to your own standard of fitness and experience, wear suitable clothing and walking boots, take your mobile telephone with you. Better still, join a group of walkers and go with a guide.

Check with your tourist guide or local organizer that it is safe to visit before setting off.
